Haikus Inspired by Random Pictures

I’ve been thinking about an event that I attended at the Wallingford Senior Center: Fine Art Flower and Verse. It was a collaboration between the garden club the poetry club, and I’m not really sure where they got the art from- obviously from artists, but I’m not sure it was a specific group. Anyway, each display was a piece of artwork, a flower arrangement, and a poem. It was really an enjoyable experience. They also had live music in the form of a violin quartet filling the room with beautiful sounds they coaxed from their instruments.

So, this gave me an idea for a creative project of my own. I have an album with over 800 pictures of unique and different things, anything from a sink on the side of the road on a cold winter’s morning with a small stream of frozen water coming out of the faucet to an oil slick in a parking lot creating a beautiful rainbow collage. I was inspired to recreate part of the senior center show by writing my favorite verse, the 5-7-5 haiku, using inspiration from those unique pictures. So, that is what this will be.
